Declaration of generative AI in scientific writing
2023-11-30
When incorporating generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies into the writing process, authors are advised to employ these tools solely for the enhancement of readability and language. The application of such technology should be executed under human supervision and control. Authors must review and edit the generated output, as AI has the potential to produce authoritative-sounding content that may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased.
It is emphasized that AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be credited as authors or co-authors, nor should they be cited as such. Authorship entails responsibilities and tasks inherently attributed to and performed by humans. Importantly, authors bear the ultimate responsibility and accountability for the substantive content of their work.
