Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the DPPH antioxidant activity of crude extracts from ripe papaya seeds (fresh seed and dried seed) by using 3 types of solvents as water (W) glycerin (G) and monopropylene glycol (MP) at 3 different solvent ratios as 1:10, 1:15, 1:20 (w/v) by ultrasonic technique (30 minutes). The crude extracts were tested for DPPH antioxidant activity and analyzed the total phenolic content. Then a basic serum (PS1) and a serum with containing the best antioxidant activity of papaya seed crude extract 2 different formulations (PS2 and PS3) were prepared and tested the stability of the serum, and pH value. The 3 serum formulations were tested for absorption into the mask granule at 0, 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes. The results showed that the crude extract from fresh papaya seeds extracted with glycerin 1:10 (w/v) (FS-G-10) had the best antioxidant activity DPPH (EC50 0.685 g/mL) and the highest total phenolic content (121.94 ±0.189 mg GAE/100 g FW). The study, results of the serum stability showed that the PS2 serum had the best stability, and all 3 serums had a pH 6 value. Effect of how long to take time for the mask granule to absorb the serum (PS1, PS2 and PS3) was found that the maximum time for the mask granule to absorb the serum was 20 minutes. According to the results of this research, fresh papaya seed extract can be used as an ingredient in nourish skin serum or applied to the serum with compressed facial mask sheet to further enhance the effectiveness of skin care.
