Factors Influencing the Needs Analysis for Quality Assurance Operations in the Faculty of Education, Prince of Songkla University, towards the Educational Quality Standards for Excellence (EdPEx300)

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) study the level of necessity in implementing qualityassurance in the Faculty of Education, Prince of Songkla University, towards achieving the EdPEx300 educational quality standard, and  (2) examine the factors influencing the necessity for quality assurance in the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Nakharin University, towards achieving the EdPEx300 educational quality standard. The research sample consists of 64 personnel from the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Nakharin University, Hat Yai Campus. The research instrument used is a questionnaire measuring factors influencing the necessity for quality assurance in the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Nakharin University, towards achieving the EdPEx300 educational quality standard, using a    5-point Likert scale with index of item-objective congruence (lOC) ranging from .67 to 1.00. The reliabity of the questionnaire .728. The statical analysis used in this research includes percentage, mean, standard deviation, Modified PNI, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis. The research fings indicate that (1) the necessity for qualty assurance in the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Nakhanin University, is at a moderate level for the current state of operations (I) with a mean of 3.28, while the expected state of operations (D) is at the highest level with a mean of 4.55. All four stages of operations, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and improving operations, have a lower current state mean than the expected state mean, indicating that all four stages of quality assurance operations are necessary. The stage with the highest necessity is the implementation stage (0.57), followed by the improvement stage (0.51), the evaluation stage (0.50), and the planning stage (0.49). (2) The predictive equation for factors infuencing the necessity for quality assurance in the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Nakharin University, is Y= 2.547 .161X3 - 15 X2 – 118X4 -.087 X7 (where Y = necessity for quality assurance, X3 = factor of staff partipation in quality assurance, X2 = factor of management and budget, X4 = factor of staff attitude towards quality assurance, X7 = factor of knowledge and understanding of quality assurance), with a multiple correlation coefficient of 903. The four factors together explain 81.6% of the variance in the necessity for quality assurance.
