Publication Ethics
The Journal of Science and Technology Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep serves as a vital academic medium for researchers, authors, and the public. To ensure that academic communication remains accurate, high-quality, and transparent—in strict adherence to both national and international publishing standards—the journal has established the following guidelines and best practices based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Roles and Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards to guarantee the quality of published articles and the integrity of the journal. Their primary responsibilities include:
-
Quality Assurance: Evaluating the format, completeness, academic rigor, relevance, and clarity of every submission.
-
Initial Screening: Conducting preliminary assessments to ensure manuscripts align with the journal’s scope and policies before proceeding to peer review.
-
Peer Review Management: Coordinating evaluations by experts in relevant fields while maintaining a strict double-blind review system to protect the confidentiality of both authors and reviewers.
-
Integrity and Corrections: Promptly addressing and correcting any inaccuracies, misleading statements, or distorted data discovered in published works.
-
Plagiarism Prevention: Implementing rigorous checks to ensure that submitted works are original and free from plagiarism.
-
Objectivity: Maintaining absolute transparency and ensuring no conflicts of interest exist with authors or reviewers.
-
Final Decision Making: Holding the ultimate authority to accept or reject manuscripts based on merit. Decisions will not be overturned unless significant evidence of factual errors or ethical breaches is presented.
-
Fairness and Appeals: Ensuring that no manuscript is rejected based on mere suspicion without evidence, and providing authors the opportunity to appeal editorial decisions through academic justification.
2. Roles and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the academic excellence of the journal. They are expected to:
-
Confidentiality: Treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and refrain from disclosing any information to third parties during the review process.
-
Expertise-Based Review: Accept invitations only for manuscripts within their area of expertise, focusing on the contribution to the field, methodological quality, and depth of analysis.
-
Objectivity and Constructiveness: Provide unbiased, reasoned, and constructive feedback based on academic merit rather than personal opinion.
-
Conflict of Interest: Disclose any potential conflicts of interest that might prevent an impartial and independent evaluation of the work.
3. Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must adhere to ethical research and writing practices as follows:
-
Originality: Manuscripts submitted must be original works that have not been previously published elsewhere.
-
Exclusivity: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously while it is under review by this journal.
-
Authenticity: Data presented must be honest and accurate. Plagiarism, data fabrication, or any attempt to misrepresent the work of others as one’s own is strictly prohibited.
-
Disclosure: All contributors to the research and all sources of financial support or funding must be clearly acknowledged.
-
Compliance: Manuscripts must be prepared in strict accordance with the journal’s formatting guidelines and requirements.
-
Responsiveness: Authors are expected to engage professionally with reviewer feedback, providing necessary revisions or clarifications as requested by the editorial board.
-
Citations: Proper credit must be given to all external sources and previous research through accurate citations and references formatted according to the journal’s standards.
