About the Journal

PhytoMycology is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing high-quality research on plants, fungi, and their interactions across diverse environments. The journal publishes original studies and reviews that address key questions in plant and fungal physiology, genetics, development, evolution, and ecology, as well as research translating fundamental insights into applications for agriculture, biotechnology, and industry.

By integrating plant science, mycology, plant pathology, microbial ecology, and systems biology, PhytoMycology provides a platform for comprehensive understanding of plant–fungus biology, from molecular mechanisms to ecosystem processes. The journal particularly encourages innovative, interdisciplinary, and technology-driven approaches-including genomics, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence—to tackle global challenges in food security, sustainable agriculture, and bio-based manufacturing.

Scope of the Journal
PhytoMycology  welcomes high-quality original research and reviews in (but not limited to) the following areas:
1. Fundamental Plant and Fungal Biology – physiology, development, cell biology, and functional genomics.
2. Plant–Fungus Interactions and Symbioses – molecular, ecological, and evolutionary perspectives on beneficial and pathogenic relationships.
3. Ecology and Ecosystem Functions – roles of plants and fungi in community dynamics, nutrient cycling, and ecosystem resilience.
4. Evolution, Diversity, and Systematics – taxonomy, phylogenetics, and population biology of plants and fungi.
5. Molecular Breeding and Genome Engineering – advancing plant and fungal traits through genetic and biotechnological innovation.
6. Biotechnology and Industrial Applications – fermentation, bioactive compounds, sustainable bio-manufacturing, and applied microbiology.
