Study integration of the solid waste management efficiently: case study at Nongkhon subdistric, Amphoe Muang, Ubon Ratchathani บษพร วิรุณพันธุ์ และ ประกายรุ่ง จวนสาง

Abstract

This research had the objective to study the integrated solid waste management in a community, to improve management of solid waste, to cultivate the consciousness of participation in waste management in Nongkhon subdistrict, Amphoe Muang Ubon Ratchathani District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. There were 3 steps of doing this research which were 1) the researcher collected quantitative data by using a questionnaire. Data were collected from a sample of 335 sample households. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency and percentage.2) the researcher proceeded a Participatory Action Research (PAR) in which the key informants were stake holders and members of waste management allies in the area obtained by a purposive sampling. The qualitative data were collected by means of in-depth interview and a workshop. 3) organize practical workshops and evaluate the satisfaction after the event. This study found that most of the population samples had a very knowledge about waste but their understandings of the waste management are only in the fair level. The survey’s Data from residents, analyzing the data, and did the focus group, brain storming from the involved people. The results found that the most amount of solid waste were organic wastes (food, vegetables, fruits, woods, leaves). Quantitative and qualitative data collected from sample collection. Analyze data from interviews with community leaders. Find ways to integrated waste management. Conclusions on the workshop to integrate effective waste management. As follows 1) Integration of waste management with mushroom cultivation 2) Integrating waste management with composting 3) Integration of waste management with monthly farming 4) Integration of waste management with fish farming. The results from the satisfaction assessment in this workshop were very good in all training topics and could be implemented in the community.
